Where the number comes from

Every night we read the public job boards of 225 companies directly from their own hiring systems, the same pages a recruiter would post to. No scraping of job sites and no guesses: if a role is on one of those boards today, it is in the count, and if it closed, it is gone tomorrow.

Why the count matters

The size of the market decides how you should search. A few hundred open roles means you can be choosy and apply only where you fit well. A handful means widening the title or the location first. It is an easy check to skip, and the cost of skipping it is months on a market that was too small to begin with.

Questions

How many jobs are open for my role right now?

Type your job title above. The number is every open US role on the job boards of 225 companies we read each day whose title contains the title you typed, as a phrase. It also shows how many are remote, how many are senior, and which companies are hiring the most.

Is this every job in the US?

No. It counts the 225 company job boards we read directly, which are mostly technology and venture-backed companies. Large employers that hire through their own career sites, and roles posted only on job sites, are not in this number. It is a fair, consistent sample, not a census.

What does a small number mean?

Under about 20 open roles usually means a long search. Before spending time or money, try a broader or neighbouring job title, or a wider location. A small count on these boards is a warning, not a verdict, because other employers may still be hiring.

Want the ones that actually fit you?

A count tells you the size of the market, not which roles are worth your time. Tell me your role and city and I will send you the best-matching open roles this week, picked against what you have actually done.
